Equity benchmark indices Sensex & Nifty trade higher for the third consecutive session on Thursday after the U.S Federal Reserve raised interest rates. US stocks closed mildly lower, while Asian markets mixed. The Indian rupee strengthened against US dollar on Thursday.

Sensex rises 130 points, Nifty above 10,400, Investment Stock Advisory:

India’s share market on Tuesday began moderately higher with Sensex and Nifty opening in green, as FPIs continued to liquidate their positions. The benchmark BSE Sensex gained 0.41% to open at 33,913.94 and NSE Nifty added 0.12% to begin at 10,391 in early trade. 

The broader and sectoral indices fell into negative zone in the opening trade with Nifty PSU Bank index losing the most led by the fall in shares of fraud-hit PNB. Shares of Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Dr Reddy’s, Axis Bank, TCS, and Infosys emerged as the notable gainers in the early trades whereas shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank, IndusInd Bank, Adani Ports, and SBI fell over 1 percent.

Stocks to watch out for on Wednesday, February 14, 2018:


The following stocks will be in focus during trade today based on latest stock in news and developments of the companies: Sun Pharma, Grasim Industries, Idea Cellular, Nestle India, Allahabad Bank, Apollo Hospitals, Bharat Road Network, Balkrishna Industries, Dena Bank, Jet Airways are among companies scheduled to report earnings later in the day. 

NTPC: NTPC Limited has announced that it has secured tender for supplying 300 MW of electricity to Bangladesh for 15 years. The stock will likely be in focus on Wednesday. 

GAIL (India)’s net profit rose 28.4% to Rs 1262.22 crore on 18.8% growth in net sales to Rs 14414.34 crore in Q3 December 2017 over Q3 December 2016. The company’s board recommended the issuance of one bonus share of Rs 10 each for existing three shares held, as per the shareholders approval. 

Idea Cellular: Idea Cellular has raised Rs 3,250 crore through a preferential allotment of over 32.66 crore equity shares at Rs 99.50 a unit to three promoter group entities. Britannia Industries: 

Britannia Industries Ltd has reported 19.6% increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 263.7 crore for the Q3 ended December 2017. The company had posted a net profit of Rs 220.4 crore in the Oct –Dec period a year ago.

Sensex down Key benchmark indices fell in the opening trades on Tuesday, amid global sell-off in equities with Sensex crashing over 1000 points and Nifty erasing over 330 points. Huge selling pressure erupted in the Indian equities market, as the two key indices BSE Nifty and Sensex opened around 3% lower. Asian shares continue to register selling pressure following Wall Street’s biggest fall since 2011 as investors’ confidence in factors underpinning a bull-run in markets. The BSE Sensex was trading at 33,635 down 1,221 points, while broader Nifty 50 index was ruling at 10,327 down 339 points. Both indices, however, recovered marginally as trade progressed. The heavyweight shares such as HDFC, ICICI Bank, ITC, RIL, L&T, Tata Motors, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, Axis Bank, State bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, TCS, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank and Mahindra and Mahindra contributed heavily in the Sensex declines.

Indian share markets opened little higher with Sensex and Nifty rising high in opening trade on Thursday but both the key indices soon.. 


Shares of Maruti Suzuki gained 0.4% to Rs. 9463.55 ahead of its Q3 earnings due later in the day, while Shares of PSU banks traded mixed since a profit booking was emerged after yesterday’s surge ahead of FM Arun Jaitley detailing about Rs 2.11 lakh cr, PSU bank recap plan. Shares of the UCO Bank rose over 6% while the stock of Biocon slipped nearly 5% after the company reported a drop of 46% in the net profit to Rs 92 crore. 

Shares of Dr Reddy’s Lab and UPL will be closely watched ahead of their respective Q3 earnings. Benchmark indices gained in the Wednesday morning trade for the sixth consecutive day with Sensex and Nifty hitting all-new lifetime highs led by domestic institutional investors buying ahead of Q3 earnings by blue chips. 

BSE Sensex traded up by 18.87 points to 34,462, while the NSE Nifty edged down 1.35 points to close at 10,638.35 in the later morning hours. Shares of Coal India, ONGC, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, ITC and Reliance Industries were the top gainers among the Sensex stocks. Shares of Coal India Ltd rose over 1 percent extending Tuesday’s gain after the company hiked non-coking coal prices.

Sensex and Nifty peak fresh record high, Idea Cellular gains:

Share markets opened marginally higher on Friday on positive economic cues. The BSE Sensex was up 170.16 points or 0.50% at 34,139.80. The NSE Nifty-50 index was up 46.25 points or 0.44% at 10,551.05 in the later morning hours. 



Shares Idea Cellular limited rose on the back of fundraising plans that involves raising Rs 3250 crore by selling shares on a preferential basis. The Nifty Metal Index rose higher, led by gains in shares of Hindalco Industries and Vedanta, over 1 percent, tracking the overnight rise in global metal prices. 

The Indian rupee gained more strength, ending at a fresh 2½ year high against the US dollar on Thursday. The rupee opened down by 5 paise at 63.58, but very swiftly pared the morning losses and added 16 paise to hit a day’s high of 63.37 vs the US dollar.

Sensex rises 143 points, Nifty near 10,500, RIL, SBI: India’s share markets extended gains to open higher on Wednesday on positive global cues, with Sensex & Nifty inching up by 0.3 percent.

The BSE Sensex was trading 143 points at a high of 33,955.21 and NSE Nifty added 51.65 points to mark the day’s high at 10,493.85. Shares of Reliance Industries, Adani Ports, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, SBI, Yes Bank, HUL, Tata Steel were the major gainers among the Sensex stocks while Infosys, Dr Reddy’s, HDFC Bank, ONGC, Asian Paints, Tata Motors slipped upto 2 percent. 

The heavyweight stocks such as Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, TCS, ITC, SBI, Larsen and Toubro contributed the most to the Sensex gains. Metal stocks continued to keep up momentum on the back of rising global commodity prices. The Nifty Metal index advanced 0.8 percent in early trade, led by over 1 percent rise in shares of Vedanta Limited and Tata Steel Limited.

Sensex and Nifty started the holiday-shortened week on a positive note in the opening trade, led by gains in shares of TCS and metal and mining companies. BSE Sensex reached its peak high of 34005.37 and Nifty reached at 10,500 l in early trade. 

However, in the after hours the indices were trading lower. The broader markets were also supported by positive footing in shares of GAIL India, Vedanta Ltd, ONGC rising up 0.7 to 1.1%. Shares of Infosys’ down 1.3%, on Nifty50, while shares of Tata Consultancy Service rose 1.5% in early trade after a report said the company will renew large outsourcing contracts. 

The Indian rupee opened marginally higher at 64.03 per dollar on Tuesday against 64.05 on Friday.

The BSE Sensex was at 33,427 points, up 0.5% while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 52 points at 10,318 levels in the morning hours. 

Shares of IL&FS Engineering gained 5 percent after the company won the pipeline-laying contract from GAIL India worth Rs. 216.00 crore. 

Max India’s shares fell 2% after the Delhi government canceled the license of its Shalimar Bagh, Delhi hospital. In Nifty, shares of Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, Wipro Limited and Eicher were the top gainers. 

A range of aspects such as Gujarat election, industrial production and inflation numbers and automobile sales data will dictate the market all through the week.

Sensex, Nifty extend gains, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors shares gain



Sensex & Nifty opened on a higher note for the second straight day on Friday. The BSE Sensex was up 249.49 points at 33,198.70. 

The NSE Nifty 50 index was up 83.30 points at 10,250 in later morning hours. Shares of Tata Motors rose 1.7%, Vedanta up 1.6%), Marut Suzuki up 1.4%, IndusInd Bank rose 1.36% and United Phosphorus Ltd gained 1.3% becoming the top gainers on Nifty50, whereas Infratel, Eicher Motors, Asian Paints, NTPC and Ambuja Cement were the top losers in today’s trade. 

Shares of Jet Airways declined about 4% after the company posted a 91 percent fall in its July-September net profit to Rs.50.00 crore.

The benchmark indices Sensex & Nifty opened moderately lower on Tuesday as most of the Asian shares slipped in the early morning led by the falls in I.T stocks.

Shares Reliance Communications (RCom) slipped 6.93 percent to hit the day’s low of Rs 10.74 while Reliance Naval dipped 4.22 percent to day’s low of Rs 34. The Reserve Bank of India’s two-day monetary policy review starts today and the decision will be released by tomorrow. The RBI’s monetary policy committee is expected to keep the policy repo-rate unchanged in the upcoming monetary policy review owing to various factors.

Sensex, Nifty open marginally higher, Infosys shares rise: The BSE index Sensex was up 31.91 points at 33,650.50 and the NSE Nifty50 index was up 8.90 points at 10,379.15.Shares of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Coal India, Reliance Industries, Dr Reddy’s Lab, ITC, NTPC, Infosys gained up to 1.7% while Axis bank and HDFC dragged the most, lost up to 1.2 percent each. The key benchmark indices extended losses with Sensex lost 125 points to hit the day’s low of 32,816 levels while the NSE Nifty dropped 44 points to mark a day’s low of 10,142.55 at 10.45 hours on Wednesday.

Sun Pharma was the biggest loser on Sensex after the company reported a decline of 59.19% in the consolidated net profit to Rs 912.12 cr for the quarter ended on 30 Sept 2017 YoY basis.

NBCC (India)’s consolidated net profit rose 31.33% to Rs. 81.24 Cr on 12.07% fall in net sales to Rs. 1,319.25 Cr in Q2 Sept 2017 YoY. The major companies which are lined up to announce their Q2 earnings are New India Assurance Company, CARE Ratings, Golden Tobacco, TD Power Systems, Digjam, Empee Distilleries, Automotive Axles, HMT and Universal Cables, among others.

The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty index scaled record highs on the govt’s booster steps to the economy through capitalization of PSU banks with a view to support credit growth and job opportunities. The recapitalization plan pushed the Bank Nifty higher, but the index failed to make a new life high. On the other side, the Nifty index kept hitting new life-highs during the week. 

The Sensex posted its largest weekly move since March 19. The index of 30 blue chip stocks gained 767 points during the week after the govt introduced a stimulus package, including a plan of Rs 2.11 lakh crore to recapitalize state-owned banks and a Rs 7.00 lakh-crore plan to build new roads. 

On Friday, the Sensex gained for a fifth consecutive day, led by industrial stocks and health care stocks, while traders raised bullish bets in November derivatives series, which started Friday. The rollover rate in the Nifty October futures, was ceased on Thursday, which was 73%, in comparison with 3-month average of 65% on expiry, as per data. 

For the coming week, Q2 financial corporate earnings and cues from global front will be closely watched by the market players.

Shares of Reliance Industries Ltd will be in focus as the company has decided to exit one of its 3 upstream shale gas assets in the US for 126 million dollar, the Mukesh Ambani-led company said. Tata Teleservices has informed the govt on Friday that the company plans to shut its wireless business, bringing an end to its 21-year old phone services venture. 

Oriental Bank of Commerce announces that RBI has put the bank under Prompt Corrective Action in view of high net non-performing assets. 

Adani Enterprises Limited (Adani Group) says that it intends to demerge its renewable-energy business into its associate arm Adani Green Energy, as part of easing overall business formation, as per reports. 

Zee Entertainment acquires 100 percent equity stake in 9-X Media Private for Rs 160 crore and acquisition of balance 26 percent Equity stake in Zee Turner. 

Rupee Watch: Indian Rupee opens marginally higher against USD and was trading at 65.34 per dollar, up 0.05 percent from its Friday’s close of 65.37.

FMCG, banking and PSU banking were in the red, losing by up to 0.32 percent. The Indian rupee weakened by 18 paise 65.28 against the Us dollar in early trade.

HPCL shares is in limelight as  ONGC will acquire the govt’s 51.11% stake in HPCL via a bulk or block deal in November or December at the current market price.
Indian Oil Corp has cleared Rs 27,000 crore refinery of its Chennai Petroleum unit, while Chennai Petroleum is going to establish new 9 million metric tonnes per year, refinery at Nagapattinam.
