Indian share markets on Tuesday have opened the trading day slightly higher tracking Asian peers. At 10.20 am, the BSE Sensex was trading higher by 120.53 points (+0.45%) at 26,847 while the NSE Nifty was trading higher by 36.10 points or 0.44% at 8,272. Both BSE Mid Cap index and BSE Small Cap index have opened the day up by 0.46% and 0.60 percent respectively. The rupee is trading at 68.19 to the US dollar. All sectoral indices have opened the day in higher note with PSU, Auto and oil & gas stocks seeing maximum buying interest.
Meanwhile, Oil prices on 9 January, posted their biggest one-day loss in 6 weeks in the midst of fears that record Iraqi crude exports in December and growing US output would undercut OPEC's efforts to restrain a international supply glut.
On Monday, foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net Rs 325.10 crore, while Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 99.82 crore, provisional data available with BSE showed.
