The benchmark indices extended gains for the third consecutive session amid positive global cues, coupled with healthy third quarter results pushed the Indian equities markets higher on Thursday.
The Nifty50 index jumped above its crucial 8,400 level for the first time since November second week while the BSE Sensex was also trading up about 74 points higher.
At 10:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 27,214, up 73.4 points, while the broader Nifty50 was ruling at 8,395, up 14 points.
The higher global crude oil prices and expectation of sops to be announced during the Union Budget improved investors’ risk-taking appetite.
Meantime, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday reiterated that the Centre is still aiming to roll out the GST regime from April 1 if all pending issues are sorted out.
